Privacy Policy

DiveOps is an app for public-safety dive teams. It keeps a team's roster, training and callout schedule, dive logs, and the safety checks a team performs before and after a diver enters the water.
This policy explains what the app holds about you, why, who can see it, and how to have your personal details removed.
The short version. Your information is used to run your dive team and nothing else. It is not sold, not shared with advertisers, and there is no tracking or analytics in the app. Only your own team can see your records.
Who holds your information
Your dive team decides what is recorded about you and who on the team can see it. The app is built and hosted by KVC, Inc., which stores the data on your team's behalf and does not use it for any purpose of its own.
What the app holds
| Category | What it includes |
|---|---|
| Who you are | Name, email address, mobile number, home address, and the photo on your roster card. |
| Emergency contact | The name and phone number of someone to reach if you are hurt. This is information about another person — only give it if they are content for the team to hold it. |
| Team record | Join and end dates, badge number, rank or position, diver and tender skill levels, officer status, and your dive certifications, including photographs of certification cards. |
| Health information | Your baseline vital signs — blood pressure, pulse, respiration, blood sugar and temperature — and the readings taken at a dive: blood pressure, pulse, respiration, blood sugar, temperature and blood-oxygen saturation, together with who took them and any notes. Your dive weighting is also recorded. |
| Activity | Trainings and callouts you are scheduled for, whether you said you were coming, whether you attended, hours logged, dive logs and dive sheets, comments you post, and photographs attached to an event. |
| Sign-in | A record of sign-ins and sign-in attempts, used to keep the account secure. |
| Notifications | If you turn notifications on, an identifier for that device so reminders can reach it. It does not identify you to anyone outside the app. |
About the health information
DiveOps does not measure anything and does not diagnose anything. It has no access to your phone's sensors or to Apple Health. Every reading in the app was taken with real equipment by a person on your team and typed in. The app compares a reading against your own baseline and highlights a difference so a dive supervisor can look at it. That is a prompt for a human decision, not a medical opinion.
Who can see it
- You can see your own record, your hours and your dive history.
- Team officers, planners and administrators can see the roster and the records they need to plan dives and keep divers safe, including medical checks.
- Nobody outside your team. Your records are not shared with other teams or with other organisations using DiveOps.
There are no advertisers, no analytics services and no third-party trackers in the app. Your information is not sold or rented, ever.
Information may be disclosed if the law requires it — for example a court order, or a records request your team is legally obliged to answer. Your team, not KVC, decides how to answer those.
Location
The app records the locations of dive sites, meeting points and callouts so the team can find them. If you allow it, the app can use your phone's location to show directions to a site. Your location is not tracked in the background and is not stored as a history of where you have been.
How long it is kept
Your personal details are kept for as long as you are on the team, and afterwards until you ask for them to be removed.
Dive records are kept permanently, and this matters. A dive log and the medical checks recorded around a dive are part of the team's operational and legal record. They can be needed years later — for an incident review, an insurance claim, or as evidence in court. They are not deleted when you leave, and they are not deleted when your personal details are removed.
Those records keep your name on them, because a record of who dived that day is the whole point of having it.
Removing your personal details
Members do not create their own accounts — a team administrator sets them up and invites you. You can still ask for your personal details to be removed at any time.
Ask any administrator on your dive team. They can do it directly, and it takes effect straight away. If you would rather not ask someone on the team, contact KVC, Inc. using the address at the bottom of this page and we will pass the request to your team's administrators.
What is erased: your email address, phone number, home address, emergency contact, personal notes, health baselines, dive weighting, password and sign-in, and the notification registrations for your devices. Your account is made inactive and you can no longer sign in.
What remains: your name, your join and end dates, and the dive and training records described above — attendance, hours, dive logs and medical checks taken at a dive.
Keeping it safe
- Everything sent between the app and the server travels over an encrypted connection.
- Passwords are stored as a one-way hash, never as the password itself.
- Photographs of people and certification cards are held in encrypted storage.
- Sign-in attempts are limited, so a password cannot be guessed at by repetition.
- What each person can see is set by their role on the team.
No system is perfectly secure, and we do not claim otherwise. If you think an account has been misused, tell a team administrator straight away so the account can be locked.
Children
DiveOps is for members of a public-safety dive team. It is not designed for or directed at children, and it is not knowingly used to collect information about anyone under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Significant changes will be told to teams directly rather than left to be noticed here.
Contact
For anything about your own records — what is held, a correction, or removal — speak to an administrator on your dive team first; they can act on it immediately.
